Boys & Girls Nursery mark National Eye Health Week with visits from local Opticians
The children at Boys & Girls Nursery in Rickmansworth and Stanmore were excited to spend time with Sachin, Senior Optometrist and Practice Manager at Boots Opticians in Rickmansworth, and Poonam, a Locum Optometrist covering all areas of London to coincide with National Eye Health Week. Sachin and Poonam talked to our Pre-School children about the importance of regular eye tests and keeping your eyes healthy.
It is important for children to learn about eye health because many children and adults have difficulties with their vision, children should learn to understand and look out for signs that their eyes might need to be checked.
It is recommended that children should start having check-ups when they start school, sometimes sooner depending on family history and be seen annually, it is free and there is no need for the children to be able to read.
Both Sachin and Poonam ran fantastic and fun filled sessions, explaining and demonstrating what happens during an eye test with glasses and specialist equipment. They spoke about how to keep eyes healthy and in good condition by eating the right foods and exercising eye muscles regularly during screen time.
“Many thanks to Sachin and Poonam who kindly took time out from their very busy schedules to talk to our children, they really enjoyed themselves and also learned a lot!” said Natasha, Director of Boys & Girls Nursery.
