Typical day

We make sure every day at Boys & Girls Nursery is full of learning, discovery and more importantly lots of fun. Everything that you see below is included in your fees – the freshly cooked meals, music & movement classes, sports sessions and phonics lessons!

Breakfast
This is one of the busiest times during the day as children arrive from 8.00am to settle in and have breakfast. There is a wide choice of cereals available and the children all sit down together so you can leave them in the knowledge that they are happy and ready to start the day with their friends.

Morning activities
After breakfast the fun really starts, the team at Boys & Girls Nursery encourage all of the children to join in with activities happening around the room and in the garden as well as focusing on targets for individual children. From messy play, a sports session with Sprog Sports, or a Tiny Mites music and sensory session, fun in the construction area or Phonics lessons delivered by Robot Reg for Pre-Schoolers – there is always something to keep everybody busy. To make sure every child develops to their full potential we follow the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which is a Government framework focusing on the development and learning for children from birth up to the age of five.

Snack time
Drinks are offered regularly throughout the day at Boys & Girls Nursery but all that exploration and discovery can make a little one hungry so everyone is given a mid-morning snack too.

Lunch
A freshly made, two-course hot lunch is served and everyone sits together at the table to enjoy it – even the team! To ensure the children get all the vitamins and minerals they need from a healthy diet, the main course is always served with vegetables whether on the side or hidden in the sauce which means that even fussy eaters get the nutrition they need.

Rest time
All that fun and learning can be exhausting, so there is a quiet area in every room so that every child can get as much rest as they need. We know that younger Babies will need lots of sleep so every baby in the baby-room has their own cot and sheets. Our Toddlers also use this time to have a nap while our Pre-School tend to enjoy some quieter activities. This is the quietest time in the nursery so if you are coming to collect your little one from a morning session or are dropping off for an afternoon session please remember to tiptoe!

Afternoon activities
The team plan all activities carefully balancing structured play and child-led fun, where children choose what they want to do. No matter how old your child is, we make sure all learning at Boys & Girls Nursery is fun and stimulating.

Tea
At 3.30pm the children sit down to a two-course tea which is a little lighter than lunch but just as tasty.

Snack time
We wouldn’t want anyone getting hungry on the way home so we offer an afternoon snack to keep rumbling tummies at bay.

Home time
So that you don’t miss out on what your child has enjoyed during their day at Boys & Girls Nursery, you will be able to view the Blossom app giving details of all the activities they have enjoyed, the meals they have eaten and when they have had a nap. You can also use this time to catch up with their Key Person and have a look through their learning portfolio.
