Making Christmas special for the whole family
Christmas is a special time of year when we get to spend lots of time together as a family. Here are some suggestions of things to do and places to go during the festive season:
Visit to Father Christmas – no Christmas would be complete without a visit to see Father Christmas, there are so many places to see the man in red and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Shopping Centres, Farms, Garden Centres and School Fairs all have grottos where children can experience the magic of Christmas – come along to our Christmas Fair at our Croxley Green Nursery on 7th December where Father Christmas and his elves will be waiting to say hello.
Christmas lights – a fun and free activity is looking at the festive lights! If you don’t fancy going into London why not wander down your local high street or have a drive around looking for some of the extravagant and wonderful displays in front gardens near where you live.
Theatre trip – He’s behind you! Christmas is a great time to introduce children to the theatre as its panto season! You don’t have to go in to the West End as lots of local theatres put on fantastic productions and often have famous stars playing lead roles.
Carol concert – there’s nothing nicer than enjoying a sing-a-long with family and friends at your local carol concert. These usually take place in churches, schools and community centres so pop along for a mince pie and some traditional Christmas songs.
Museum – the Museum of London and Museum of Childhood have some great activities planned throughout December that are suitable for all ages and are mostly free to attend. From art activities to carol singing there is something for everyone.
Winter walks – walking through the woods is a lovely way to spend an afternoon – if you’re lucky you might even see a reindeer roaming around!
Places like Kew Gardens have some great activities arranged including an illuminated walk around a magical garden, with light, sound and performances taking place for all ages to enjoy.
Most of all enjoy yourselves!
